Neptune Software announces major update to its Digital Experience Platform 

New features drive accelerated digital transformation via most-native rapid app development platform

Oslo, June 2020 – Neptune Software releases major updates to its Digital Experience Platform (DXP) furthering its mission to deliver the ‘most-native’ rapid app development platform for SAP-centric use cases.

Built to address the challenges of today’s complex, hybrid IT landscapes in a single holistic solution, Neptune Software has achieved a new milestone with a joint release of the platform’s two complementing modules: one embedded within a company’s core ERP system (SAP Business Suite or SAP S/4HANA) and a counterpart that runs co-located with other (cloud) business solutions. The unique combination of these two modules help enterprises streamline and optimize their business operations: from on-premise to the cloud and from core backend systems to the edge. Neptune DXP empowers IT departments to drive business results and helps them provide a unified, consumer-grade experience for the modern enterprise user.

New capabilities drive rapid development of enterprise applications  

Building upon the company’s founding commitment to and alignment with SAP strategies, the latest Neptune DX platform release includes a comprehensive set of new features and updates that support the rapid development of custom enterprise applications.

Advanced layout and custom theming flexibility

Version 6.0 of the Neptune DXP – SAP edition (Planet 8) adds advanced layout and custom theming capabilities to provide maximum flexibility in designing pixel-perfect user experiences that adhere to the SAP Fiori 3 guidelines. It also includes new types of integration cards and provides an ABAP-based development approach to create new, data-driven integration cards at ease.

Lab preview of API Factory

This new version will also ship with a lab preview of the API Factory, a powerful new addition to the platform that allows you to rapidly expose business functionality such as ABAP reports, ABAP list views (ALV), and function modules as RESTful APIs including the automatic generation of corresponding Fiori user interfaces at runtime.

Support for Progressive Web Apps

Both modules now support Progressive Web Apps (PWA) as an alternative distribution format for mobile apps, and hybrid web apps created with Neptune DXP will benefit from performance improvements due to updated Cordova plugins for iOS (WKWebView).

Support for Azure AD

Both releases provide support for Azure Active Directory for authentication & authorization for both desktop and mobile scenarios; commonly requested features from our customer base.

Support for SAP HANA

Version 2.2 of the Neptune DXP – Open edition (Planet 9) introduces support for SAP HANA as the primary database of choice for data-driven usage scenarios, a result of our collaboration with the TypeORM development team (see link.)

New editors

The new pro-code editor supports the development of React application based on the Monaco editor by Microsoft and delivers improved development support set from Microsoft Visual Studio Code to Neptune DXP developers.
